Good food, great price - part 2

The website wouldn't let me do it in one hit so here is part two of my review. If haven't yet doen so, please read part one first. cont..... If you are still hungry for more you can really go wild on your mains, a wide range of dishes, including sizzling dishes at £2 extra a dish if you so desire. Its all very good though, I was particularly interested in the Fried Broccoli myself as a side dish, it sounded a must try to me. Finally the dessert, you get the choice of the classics: Toffee Apple, Toffee Banana, Apple Fritter, Banana Fritter (you get where I'm going here...) or you can settle with just a spot of Ice Cream of your prefer. Good choice. As I say, an all round good experience, especially if there is a group of you. They offer upstairs seating too for larger parties however having attended and evening with a larger party you can imagine this sort of set up is a living nightmare to host. My recommendation is between 4-10 people is the ideal party size. To put it simply we love the China Inn, it thoroughly deserves a 5 star for the food but the decor is looking a bit dated and tatty now so it does let the experience down a bit, once they give it a bit of a revamp it will get it's 5 star back.

Good food, great price - part 1

I have to agree with dave here, a very nice chinese. Rumour has it they are from the same faimly that once owned the old Lotus Inn in on Fore Hill, which again was amazing.

When it first opened the place looked amazing but now it's suffering a little bit on the decor front, the whole interior could do with a fresh lick of paint but it's never seemed quiet enough to be able t warrant that cost from whenever we've been there. For those that remember Ely's first ever nightclub 'The Lave Lounge' there are still small remnants of this throughout the property, no disco ball's or rope lights though.

It's different from the typical all-you-can-eat restaurants in the fact that you are seated as you would be in a restaurant and you pick and choose off the menu as normal you just have to finish what you order to able to 'move on' to the next course.

The food is amazing though, the Hors d'oeuvres is great to share for starters. I am also very keen on the Salt and Pepper ribs and BBQ ribs. Very good.

Next up you have the optional second course of Peking duck or Peking Lamb which despite it being listed as starters on the menu comes out after your actual starters. They do this properly too by bringing the duck / lamb (or both) to your table and spooning it into peices in fornt of you. You get your pancakes in one of those bamboo baskets and you also get the cucumber / spirng onion shreddings and hoi sin to go with it. Spot on.

    Value For Money Chinese

A great value restaurant with a tasty food offering and a value for money, eat-as-much-as-you-like deal - all you've got to do is empty your plate each time before you order more. It's cheap and cheerful but offers a great night out and the staff are always very friendly.
