The Fountain is a homely pub that has a civilized, community feel to it and boasts a large open fire in the wintertime. What you see is what you get with this pub and there are no tricks or gimmicks – no ambient music, it doesn't serve food, it is rarely open during the daytime and there are no quiz nights or the like, but it is a solid choice for good conversation and a fine pint – and it serves a selection of real ales, such as Broadside and Woodforde's Wherry Bitter. It's dog friendly too.

If you want to enjoy a drink in peaceful surroundings, then The Fountain is the place for you - even on weekend nights when it can get busy, this pub is still an enjoyable place to drink. It has a fine selection of beers, a very sociable atmosphere and interesting locals. There's no loud music here and although it has a roaring fire in the wintertime, it's not old fashioned either. Upmarket atmosphere and pricing, friendly staff and even though the curmudgeonly landlord wanders around like a feudal king when he's throwing another log on the fire, he adds charm and identity to the place!
