Just how an old English boozer should be, the Prince Albert has a welcoming atmosphere, chatty locals and no distracting television screens or background music. It also serves an impressive selection of real ales – as a Greene King pub it always has IPA and Abbot on, but there are also guest beers that change regularly. It offers food, plays host to a monthly quiz night and its sizable beer garden is not only a delight in the summer, it is large enough to stage an annual open air Shakespeare production, with 'As You Like It' scheduled for late June 2012.

A good old traditional English pub, the Prince Albert not only has great beer but it also has a great beer garden, a secluded secret that makes a weekend drink a pleasure. I've been drinking here since I was first legal to do so - things change in Ely, but the Prince Albert is something that you can always count on.
