This pub gets very busy with the National Trust nearby but we came to the Maids Head on a Thursday night and had a good experience. As far as pub food can go, this was good. Lots of choices on the menu so youre not restricted to the bog standard fried goods. Exceeded expectations.

The Maids Head has come a long way in the last year or two, it was once one to avoid, the food was terrible and the beer wasnt kept well at all but these days its a very different story.
Liz and Stuart Trangmar who are also the proprietors of the White Pheasant in Fordham have turned around this beautiful public house set in the village of Wicken, which is famous for its fenland conservation. The food stays within the realm of traditional pub grub but far above the average fare one would expect: all of the food is freshly prepared and there are always interesting specials available. The beer is good with two guest real ales on each week, and every Friday night youll find either live must or a karaoke enjoyed by a good crowed of friendly locals. There is a nice secluded beer garden to the side of the building but in the summertime the green at the front of the pub is a perfect place for families with young children to enjoy.
