Macmillan Coffee Mornings to Raise Cash for Cancer Support

My son and I headed into Ely today with the car full of toys, DVDs, books and other unwanted items with the intention of donating it all to one of the many charity shops dotted around the city center.

I once overheard someone complaining that there are too many charity shops in Ely, and he was right, there are many considering the size of the city (not that it’s a bad thing). These shops are always fun to look around if you like old records, CDs and books. Anyway, we delivered our load to a cancer research shop. My father died of cancer and I have a good friend who has just been diagnosed with the disease so it felt like the right thing to do.

This evening I received an e-mail about the ‘Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning’ organized by Macmillan Cancer Support, any one can hold a coffee morning and raise money for Macmillan – I think it’s a great idea and I’m thinking of holding one myself.

Check out the website for details if you are up for organising your own event, come-on, it will be fun – and it’s for a good cause.

The 24th of September seems to be the most popular date, there is one happening in Ely at the Moaltings starting at 10am – let us know if you plan one yourself! And watch this space for further details
