Paying lots of Council tax for the odd bin bag, a few library books, fewer coppers, 60p per mile for council employees, diminishing services, and now.......tourists. Tourists who obviously have higher expectations than us LOCAL tax payers. Yet another example of an unelected official doing what THEY thing is best for US. Thanks. As of now I just won't travel into Ely. I'll go to Cambridge and be a tourist. What a nonsense. Local business beware, you may be next.

If you're talking about the council's decision not to allow the 'tea cup' ride on the Bank Holiday market, well done. If you're not - well, then tell us what inspired this outburst of anger against the council!

The ridiculous move by the tourism nazis re the "teacup" ride.
Sorry, assumed the comment automatically linked to the story.
On to ECDC tuesday, and our MP (another "local"(not)). Really got my goat.

It must be the same people on the council who decided that Ely needed an 'upmarket' restaurant at The Maltings instead of coffee and carvery - that decision proved such a success that they had to close it for several months over Christmas because no-one was going there.

If the Numptys that are employed by (not work for) ECDC were in the private sector, they wouldn't have a job for long. Technically they work for us, the tax payer, but can we sack them? No more than we can force people to shake off their appathy and vote for change (No, not AV).
