Simply Wonderful

My favourite place to go in Ely is Peacock's Tearoom - I'm a bit of an afternoon tea aficionado and a proper, leisurely afternoon tea is my favourite 'eating out' experience. I've done most of the fancy London hotels and Peacock's is still my favourite. It's just lovely there: proper afternoon tea, little sandwiches with the crusts cut off, fancy cakes, scones and cream, a huge choice of teas, and all at at a third of the price you'd pay in a hotel anywhere else. The light lunches are lovely and simple - homemade soups, sandwiches, things on toast. The last time I went I just had tea and and buttered toast and I swear I have never tasted anything so good. Service is friendly and swift and it's very small and cosy. If I could, I'd have tea there every day and work my way down the tea menu.

    If you havent been for tea at Peacocks Tearoom then its about time you did. Peacocks is a delightful traditional English tearoom situated close to the river, they have more than 70 blends of tea on offer, excellent home made cakes and cream teas along with a good selection light snacks. They have won several awards including UKs Top Tearoom 2007

    There is always a smile and a warm greeting from George the proprietor who has the most amazing collection of brightly coloured shirts in Ely Guaranteed to brighten up your day.

    Peacocks is Fabulous for Tea and Cakes!

       

    This is a real gem of a place - right down by the river it is always packed in spring and summer. A real traditional tea room which offers a huge selection of blends along with excellent homemade food and cakes - cream tea is a particular favourite of ours!!
