This Museum may be small but there is so much to see and learn about inside, you wont be disappointed.
The building dates back to the 13th century and has been many things including a tavern, a registry office and most notoriously a prison. Due to restoration in 1997 some of the prisons original features can still be seen, including graffiti by one of its inmates.
There are fossils that you can touch, Roman artefacts and remains, flint arrowheads and tools, archive film of the fens and much more. My favourite exhibit is the French Officers helmet and breastplate taken from the battlefield at Waterloo, the scars of battle: dents and scraps are clearly visible on the armour, an amazing artefact that with a little imagination brings history alive
Go and see it.
