It seems that we all dream of living the celebrity lifestyle, and if you do, then you may have searched for homes in Middlesex, which has been home to an incredibly broad range of famous people. Celebrated people to have been born in the area or nearby include Elton John, Keira Knightley and Jane Seymour. Many famous people, too, are among the alumni of what is now Middlesex University. These include sculptor Anish Kapoor, The Queen actress Helen Mirren and musician Adam Ant – but what if you fancy joining these people in living the celebrity life?
Well, we can’t guarantee that your actual home will be as opulent as that of the average celebrity, but there’s no reason why a certain level of luxury can’t be affordable in your home, with standards of design and construction having reached unparalleled standards in recent years. Whereas it was once the case that only celebrities really waxed lyrical about the environment, today, energy-efficiency is a huge priority for the best new-build homes, while such properties are also frequently built in attractive, green environments and benefit from the finest transport links.
Indeed, those transport links could be the key to you enjoying so many more of the benefits of being a celebrity – at least in your head! After all, Middlesex – in itself now a mere historic and postal county rather than an administrative one - enjoys close integration with London, which certainly allows for easy access to the capital’s many attractions and activities, from art galleries and museums to shopping.
Certainly, you can’t be a self-respecting celebrity without a bit of retail therapy, with Oxford Street being home to a wealth of retailers and department stores, including the internationally-renowned Selfridges. Meanwhile, the 1-mile long Upper Street in Islington is the place to look for an astonishing selection of fine restaurants. Those who are enchanted by the world of theatre, meanwhile, can’t possibly miss one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals in the West End.
But of course, there’s no reason why you need to live like a present-day ‘celebrity’... or maybe you’re just caught up in ‘William and Kate’ fever at the moment. Either way, we also feel duty bound to point out many of the city’s Royal tourist attractions, including not only Buckingham Palace itself but also former Royal residences like Hampton Court Palace and the last remaining property of the Palace of Whitehall, the Banqueting House. It all makes for some of the perfect ‘celebrity experiences’ when you live in Middlesex or nearby!
