Is Ely ready for nudity in the Women's Institute? Tonight a production of the hit play 'Calendar Girls' opens at Ely College and the amateur dramatic society behind the show is urging people to get down to Needham's Hall to see what will be one of its most popular and successful plays of recent years.

Baring all: Susan Harrison, shop assistant at Burrows Bookshop, prepares for the Ely ADS production of 'Calendar Girls'. You can buy a ticket from her too!
You might think that an amateur drama group would struggle to find volunteers willing to take their clothes off for a local production but, according to director Nigel Murfitt of Ely Amateur Dramatic Society, this wasn't the case.
"I didn't know how many people would come forward when we first announced the auditions," says Murfitt, "but we were inundated with actresses willing to strip for their art. It seems that Ely isn't as bashful as I had always believed."
Ely ADS will be staging 'Calendar Girls' at Ely College from October 31 to November 3, 2012, with performances nightly at 7.30pm. Tickets priced £8 are available from Burrows Bookshop.
