East Cambs Waste & Recycling Service Suspended

Due to adverse weather conditions the waste and recycling service in East Cambridgeshire has been suspended on Monday January 21. The suspension mostly affects residents in areas around Newmarket, Sutton, Haddenham, Aldreth, Grunty Fen, Earith Bridge, Stretham, Wilburton, Chittering, Witchford, Isleham and Wentworth.
Depending on the weather the crews will look to collect black bags and recycling tomorrow. If weather conditions do not improve then the waste and recycling which has not been collected will be picked up on the next due collection day.
Liz Knox, Head of Environment Services, said: "We apologise for the suspension of the waste and recycling service in East Cambridgeshire today. While main roads are passable with care, unfortunately many estates which the crews would visit today are not due to the snow and ice.
"The contractors, Veolia, hope to catch up tomorrow if conditions improve. If, however, this is not possible we must ask residents to take their waste back in and put it out again on their next due collection day."
