Refuse collection and recycling schedule for Christmas 2011 and New Year
Over the two weeks of the Christmas and New Year holiday, the waste and recycling collection days across the Ely area and in the remainder of East Cambridgeshire will be just one day later than normal. This means residents should put out their black bags, brown bags and black box recycling a day after their usual days for collection – even if this lands on one of the Bank Holidays.
According to the council's Waste Strategy Team Leader, Dave White, East Cambridgeshire District Council have tried to minimise the disruption to waste and recycling collections. "This year there will only be a day to wait before rubbish and recycling can be collected from your kerbside. The changes will last until Saturday January 7, 2011, when the collections will go back to normal.
"Throughout Christmas, the Waste Recycling Centres in the district will also be open except for Christmas Eve afternoon, Christmas, Boxing and New Years Day," he continues. "They have extensive facilities to recycle nearly all the waste you generate over the holiday period, if you can't wait for the normal collections."
