One Day Left To Vote For Ely Cinema

Ely Cinema at The Maltings has a loyal fanbase but now there is the chance for the people of Ely to give something back, by helping it to win £1,000 in the Filmbank Award for Community Cinemas. And there's just one day left to do it.

During the National Conference of the British Federation of Film Societies, the organisation's annual awards take place to recognise and reward the work of volunteer film exhibition across the UK. This year the Filmbank Audience Award has been launched and will be presented to the community cinema that can best tell us why their audience is the happiest in the UK.

The winner will be awarded with the title 'The happiest community cinema audience 2011' at the Film Society of the Year Awards 2011 on September 17. In addition a cheque for £1000 will be presented to the winning community cinema; the award could be used to purchase new equipment, expand marketing ventures or to hold events on a more regular basis and encourage new members. There will also be two runner-up awards of £250 each.

So why don't you put the Ely Cinema forward for the award. All you need to do to nominate the cinema is complete the phrase, 'We are the happiest community cinema audience because...'

Download an entry form here and return it to British Federation of Film Societies by email by August 8, 2011. Entries should be no more than 100 words and the winner will be announced at the Film Society of the Year Awards 2011 on the September 17 in London.
